Artist's Description
Peñalver (1937-1995), the quintessential 20th Century American Surrealistic Artist of his generation, was a prolific painter before his paralysis in 1979. The ensuing years were challenging as he depicted his transition from walking to wheels in hundreds of paintings. Alexa's Flowers (1981); Alexa was always bringing fresh flowers for Ricardo to enjoy and paint. On this day in October 1981, they both painted their version of this bouquet.
