Peñalver (1937-1995), the quintessential 20th Century American Surrealistic Artist of his generation, was a prolific painter before his paralysis in 1979. The ensuing years were challenging as he depicted his transition from walking to wheels in hundreds of paintings. Communication Plant (1975); was originally commissioned by a major telephone company in San Francisco. The painting is Ricardo's surrealistic version of an early telephone communication device.
