Ricardo Penalver (1937-1995) the quintessential 20th Century American Surrealistic Artist was always ready with paper and pen in hand to draw what he saw that interested him. In 1971 he was inspired by these fashion forward cool looking Chicano youth hanging out together in San Francisco. Ricardo was living on Van Ness near 24th Street in San Francisco at that time. He was well known and respected in the community.
