Peñalver (1937-1995), the quintessential 20th Century American Surrealistic Artist of his generation, was a prolific painter before his paralysis in 1979. The ensuing years were challenging as he depicted his transition from walking to wheels in hundreds of paintings. Yellow Daffodils in a Water Dragon Vase(1989); is another magnificent still life from Ricardo, as viewed from sitting in his wheelchair. Ricardo and Fernando studied the human form with no arms and no legs. They would laugh at the dark humor juxtaposed with Ricardo's realty. This would be one a few oil paintings Ricardo would complete before his passing.
