Peñalver (1937-1995), the quintessential 20th Century American Surrealistic Artist of his generation, was a prolific painter before his paralysis in 1979. The ensuing years were challenging as he depicted his transition from walking to wheels in hundreds of paintings. Fernando's Wings (1988); depicts Ricardo's dear friend and painting partner, Fernando Duarte, who had just received a commission to create the graphics for Butterfly World in a Bay Area Theme Park.
