Peñalver (1937-1995), the quintessential 20th Century American Surrealistic Artist of his generation, was a prolific painter before his paralysis in 1979. The ensuing years were challenging as he depicted his transition from walking to wheels in hundreds of paintings. Ruby Red Resolve (1987); is a portrait of Alexa, Ricardo's favorite model. He delighted in painting her and displaying her strength.
